Nominations Closed for 18th Session of Al Owais Cultural Awards

The Sultan Bin Ali Al Owais Cultural Foundation has announced that nominations for the 18th session of Al Owais Cultural Awards (2022-2023) have closed at the end of December 2022. The Foundation also announced that the total number of candidates nominated in all categories of the Award is 1761, while the number of nominations in each of the categories is as follows: Poetry 226, Short Story, Novel and Drama 490, Literary Studies and Criticism 290, Humanities and Future Studies 485, Cultural and Scientific Achievement 270.

It is worth mentioning that 101 leading Arab novelists, writers and intellectuals had won the Al Owais Cultural Awards to date as well as 5 prestigious cultural institutions. Moreover, the jury committees of the Awards have seen the participation of more than 251 referees from different cultural fields. The jury committees will start reviewing the different submissions shortly in an atmosphere filled with impartiality, fairness, objectivity and confidentiality; qualities that the Al Owais Cultural Awards have been noted for in all the previous sessions, hence making the Sultan Bin Ali Al Owais Cultural Award one of the most esteemed cultural prizes in the Arab world and beyond. The Al Owais Cultural Awards are considered of great moral and material value to its winners.

The Sultan Bin Ali Al Owais Cultural Foundation had sent out more than 6,000 nomination forms and invitations, as well as 6,000 information brochures about the Foundation and the Al Owais Awards to most universities, academies, cultural institutions, literary associations, and to some authors throughout the Arab world, so that nominations and applications may be included in the 18th edition of Al Owais Awards (2022-2023).

Al Owais Cultural Awards has been taking noteworthy steps into the digital world in terms of receiving nominations, following up on candidates and communicating with referees in the aim of ensuring the timeliness and accuracy of its work. It deserves mention that during the Covid-19 pandemic, the Sultan Bin Ali Al Owais Cultural Foundation had developed its award nomination process, offering those who wish to apply for the Awards more flexibility and accessibility to accurate information about applying in each of the categories of Al Owais Cultural Awards.
