GALA CONCERT BY VOCALIST WAAD AL BAHRI ON CLOSING NIGHT OF PRIZE DISTRIBUTION CEREMONY OF SULTAN BIN ALI AL OWAIS CULTURAL AWARDS

Vocalist Waad Al Bahri has performed at a gala musical concert held on the closing night of the prize distribution ceremony of the fourteenth session of the Sultan Bin Ali Al Owais Cultural Awards (2014-2015), which took place on Wednesday, May 4, 2016 at the premises of Al Owais Cultural Foundation in Rigga Street, Dubai.

 

The event was attended by His Excellency Dr. Mohammed Abdullah Al Mutawa, Secretary General of the Sultan Bin Ali Al Owais Cultural Foundation as well as Abdul Hamid Ahmed and Dr. Fatima Al Sayegh, Members of the Foundation’s Board of Trustees. Also present at the event were the winners of Al Owais Cultural Awards, including Dr. Roushdi Rashid (winner of Humanities and Futures Studies Award), novelist Youssef Al Qaeed (winner of Short Story, Novel and Drama Award) poet Habib Al Sayegh (Poetry Award) and Dr. Salah Fadl (winner of the Literary and Critical Studies Award) as well as a number of leading cultural and public personalities and a large audience that filled the theatre hall of the Foundation.

 

During the two-hour concert, vocalist Waad Al Bahri performed a selection of famous songs by renowned Arab singers, including: Asmahan, Mohammed Abdo, Najat Al Sagheera, Sabah Fakhri, Warda and Umm Kulthum among many other songs that the audience immensely enjoyed. It is worth mentioning that Al Bahri had spent her childhood in the UAE and obtained a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration from Ajman University. She embarked on her singing career at an early age.

 

At the conclusion of the concert, H.E. Dr. Mohammed Abdullah Al Mutawa honored Al Bahri and her musical ensemble and presented them with the commemorative shield of the Sultan Bin Ali Al Owais Cultural Foundation. He also thanked them for their great music and superior caliber of art. On the other hand, Al Bahri thanked the Sultan Bin Ali Al Owais Foundation and its personnel for the great role they play in promoting fine culture and art and for providing a platform for creative Arab experiences.
