Sultan Bin Ali Al Owais Cultural Foundation to Honor 17th Session Winners of Al Owais Cultural Awards in March

The Sultan Bin Ali Al Owais Cultural Foundation will be hosting a gala ceremony to honor winners of the 17th session of Al Owais Cultural Awards (2020-2021). The event will take place in Dubai on Wednesday, March 2nd, 2022.

HE Dr. Anwar Mohammed Gargash, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Al Owais Cultural Foundation, will be honoring winners of the 17th session of Al Owais Cultural Awards (2020-2021) at the event, who will receive the United Arab Emirates sash as well as gold medals -made of 22kt gold- with the winner’s photo on one side and the logo of the awards on the other. Winners will also receive prestigious calligraphed certificates written by hand in various Arabic calligraphy scripts, such as the square Kufic, Diwani, Jeli Diwani and Naskh scripts.

Moreover, a documentary about the award will be screened at the event, and the report of the jury panel and the Board of Trustees’ statement about the Winner of the Sultan Bin Ali Al Owais Cultural and Scientific Achievement Award will also be read.

It is worth mentioning that winners of the 17th session of Al Owais Cultural Awards (2020-2021) include Elias Lahhoud who won the “Poetry Award”, while the “Short Story, Novel and Drama” prize was won by Nabil Sulaiman. Moreover, the “Literary Studies and Criticism” prize was awarded to Dr. Abdul Malik Murtad and the “Humanities and Future Studies” prize went to Dr. Ahmed Zayed.

The Board of Trustees of the Sultan Bin Ali Al Owais Cultural Foundation granted the Cultural and Scientific Achievement Award in the 17th session (2020-2021) to Asilah Forum Foundation (Morocco). a pioneering organization that works on promoting culture and connecting civilizations through hosting cultural seasons and cultural dialogues. In addition to recognizing innovators, talented youth and prominent intellectuals in the field of culture and knowledge, the Asilah Forum Foundation also oversees scientific research, humanitarian work, social welfare in model schools and universities, as well as organizing other activities that aim at spreading awareness and actively promoting culture and strengthening its role within the community.

Portraits of the 17th session winners will be showcased on the sidelines of the ceremony. The portraits were painted by a group of veteran artists, namely Mohammed Fahmi, Tha’er Hilal, Farid Fadhel and Babu. It is customary for the Sultan Bin Ali Al Owais Cultural Foundation to have portraits painted of each winner of its awards, which are then displayed at the permanent “Winners’ Exhibition” at the Foundation’s Grand Exhibition Hall.

Tens of event invitations were distributed to public figures and cultural and media personalities from the UAE and beyond to attend the grand cultural event which marks the conclusion of the 17th session of the prestigious award and honors the innovators who have deservedly won.
