Sharjah Theatre Days Returns On March 24, 2026

Under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, the Sharjah Department of Culture Sharjah will organise the 35th edition of the Sharjah Theatre Days from March 24 to 31, 2026, with the participation of leading theatre troupes from the UAE and across the Arab world.

As part of preparations for the upcoming edition, the Supreme Organising Committee of the Sharjah Theatre Days held its first meeting, chaired by Ahmed Bourhaimah, Director of the Theatre Department at the Department of Culture and Director of Sharjah Theatre Days, with the attendance of committee members Ismail Abdullah, Mohammed Jamal, and Abdullah Rashid.

The meeting reviewed the highlights of the previous edition, commending the efforts of the participating theatre troupes and the contributions of creative professionals to the accompanying critical and intellectual programmes. The meeting also commended the local and regional media coverage of the event.

The committee continues to receive participation applications from theatre troupes until November 30, ahead of announcing the programme for the 35th edition.

Launched in 1984, Sharjah Theatre Days is regarded as one of the UAE’s foremost cultural and artistic events, serving as an annual platform for competition among Emirati theatre groups through a series of awards that honour excellence in theatrical performance.

The one-week event also features a wide range of cultural activities, with artists and intellectuals from the UAE and beyond taking part, aimed at supporting the theatre movement and fostering a culture of theatre within the community.
