The Sultan Bin Ali Al Owais Cultural Foundation will honour veteran theatre artist Ahmed Al Jasmi at 7pm on Saturday, 14 February 2026, with a special cultural evening featuring a book signing and a stage performance. The event will include the signing of the book “Ambassador Extraordinary – Ahmed Al Jasmi”, written by playwright Abdulellah Abdulqader, highlighting the artist’s career and contributions to theatre.
The programme will also feature a performance of the play “Papa”, written, with scenography and direction by theatre-maker Mohammed Al Ameri, and starring Ahmed Al Jasmi alongside a group of leading Emirati stage actors. The foundation said the evening forms part of its ongoing efforts to recognise prominent cultural and theatrical figures in the UAE.
The book “Ambassador Extraordinary – Ahmed Al Jasmi” explores the life story of Ahmed Al Jasmi and his rich artistic journey. It is considered a notable addition to the Emirati library and is published as part of the “Emirati Figures” series issued by the Sultan Bin Ali Al Owais Cultural Foundation, which aims to document the lives and achievements of prominent Emirati figures across scientific, literary and artistic fields. The series includes documentary-style volumes on influential Emirati personalities, including poets, writers and thinkers who have left a lasting imprint on the UAE’s cultural landscape.
The signing ceremony for the book “Ambassador Extraordinary – Ahmed Al Jasmi” comes as part of a broader celebration of the artistic and cultural career of Ahmed Al Jasmi, who has delivered numerous theatre and television works that have left a lasting imprint on the memory of Emirati and Arab audiences.
The play “Papa” is described as an engaging and emotionally driven production that addresses family and human themes through a powerful, character-led story. It was staged at the 16th edition of the Arab Theatre Festival in January 2026 and was also showcased at the 34th edition of the Sharjah Theatre Days.
The play is distinguished by its collective, family-spirited creative approach, presenting social and heritage themes through an inventive artistic style that blends performance and theatrical expression, drawing on both contemporary reality and the past. The production is seen as a distinguished addition to the UAE theatre scene, bringing together a group of leading Emirati performers, headed by Ahmed Al Jasmi and Abdullah Masoud, among others.
