The Emirates Fine Arts Society has elected its new board for the 2025–2027 term during a meeting held at its headquarters in Sharjah. Abdul Rahim Salem was elected Chairman of the Society’s Board, with Salem Al Janabi named Vice Chairman. The remaining positions were filled by a group of distinguished artists who have played a notable role in shaping the Emirati art scene.
The newly elected board members include Ali Mubarak Al Ali as Secretary, Saleh Shanbeh as Treasurer, and Mohammed Youssef, Mohammed Al Qassab, and Ahmed Al Falasi as members.
The newly elected board reviewed the Society’s upcoming strategic plan, which focuses on reviving historically significant exhibitions, transforming the association into a hub for artistic production, documentation, and cultural dialogue, expanding both local and international partnerships, empowering emerging generations of artists, leveraging modern communication tools, and reactivating previously stalled projects.
The new Chairman, pioneering artist Abdulrahim Salem—one of the founding members of the Emirates Fine Arts Society—returns to the helm carrying the banner of renewal. As one of the earliest figures in the country’s visual arts movement, Salem has played a central role in shaping the identity of the Society since its establishment in 1980.
Today, he resumes leadership with a fresh vision and a guiding motto that encapsulates his approach: “Towards a New Horizon: Renewal, Authenticity, and Empowerment.” With this renewed mandate, he seeks to advance the Society’s mission and reaffirm its pioneering role through a diverse programme of events and initiatives.
Meanwhile, artist and writer Salem Al Junaibi stands out as a model of youthful leadership that has consistently proven its merit. A key figure in the Society’s management since 2014, he served as President for two consecutive terms and remains an active contributor to its development. Al Junaibi is currently preparing to launch a parallel artistic project alongside the annual exhibition, dedicated to experimental arts—an initiative that reflects the Society’s commitment to exploring new creative frontiers.
Artist and jewellery designer Ali Mubarak Al Ali brings a distinctive and dynamic presence to the board. With creative talents and multidisciplinary experience spanning design, aviation, and jewellery, he represents a valuable addition to the team. His voice resonates with the energy of youth and the aspirations of a new generation of artists, enriching the Society’s direction with fresh perspectives and bold ambition.
Artist Saleh Shanbeh, a seasoned administrator and a key architect of the Society’s institutional development, has been elected to the board in recognition of his longstanding contributions to advancing the organisation and overseeing the implementation of its projects.
The new board also features a distinguished group of artists who embody both leadership and renewal. Among them is Mohammed Youssef, one of the founding members of the Society, known for his active participation in numerous local and international festivals and group exhibitions. Artist Mohammed Al Qassab, founder of the Communication project, is another influential figure whose efforts have shaped the Society’s programmes, educational frameworks, and cultural activities since its inception.
Also joining the board is artist Ahmed Al Falasi, whose creative vision is deeply rooted in environmental and societal engagement. Through training programmes and purposeful workshops, he has played a vital role in empowering emerging generations of artists. His work reflects a strong spirit of collaboration and volunteerism, contributing meaningfully to the UAE’s evolving cultural landscape and guiding it towards a new phase of impact and influence.
