  • Name: Elias Habib Lahhoud
  • Born in 1942 in Marjayoun, Southern Lebanon.
  • Studied in Marjayoun and pursued his higher education in Sidon, Beirut and Europe.
  • Worked in the fields of education and journalism.
  • Co-founded a number of literary magazines, including “Al Fikr Al Arabi” (Arab Thought), “Isharat” (Signals) and “Al Fikr Al Arabi Al Mu’aser” (Contemporary Arab Thought).
  • He is Editor-in-Chief of “Kitabat Mu’asira” (Contemporary Writings) magazine since its establishment in 1989.
  • Since his youth, his poems and writings were published in most well-known Arab magazines and newspapers (Al Aadab, Al Ma’rifa, Al Mawqif Al Adabi, Al Aqlam, Al Safeer, Al Nahar, Al Kifah Al Arabi, Al Sharq Al Awsat, Al Rai, Al Qabas and Al Siyasah).
  • He participated in numerous literary conferences both in the Arab world and Europe. He also contributed to many poetry symposiums and literary festivals including: Al Marbad Festival, Jerash Festival, Al Mahabba Festival and other literary festivals and symposiums in Tunisia, Cairo, Rabat, Homs, Al Ramtha, Baalbek, Tyre and Kuwait among others.
  • During his youth, he translated poems by Rimbaud, Verlaine, Sully Prudhomme, Paul Eluard, Jack Prevert and Rene Char.
  • His debut poetry collection, Al Qasa’ed Al Hazina (The Sad Poems) was published in 1962. One month later, it was republished under the title of Ala Duroob Al Khareef (On Autumn Paths). The collection is comprised of romantic poems with innovative tranquil and classic rhythms.
