The Sultan Bin Ali Al Owais Cultural Foundation has dedicated 300 Emirati books from its 2024–2025 publications to the Mohammed Bin Rashid Library in celebration of Emirati Writer’s Day, which coincides with the Foundation’s centennial tribute to the poet Sultan Bin Ali Al Owais.
The dedicated collection spans a wide range of genres, including creative, critical, intellectual, scientific, and documentary works, showcasing the voices of both established and emerging Emirati authors. This initiative underscores the enduring value of local writers and highlights their growing significance in the national cultural landscape.
The initiative comes as part of the implementation of the memorandum of understanding signed between the Mohammed Bin Rashid Library and the Sultan Bin Ali Al Owais Cultural Foundation, which outlines cooperation across various areas that support their shared objectives. The MoU includes consultation and exchange of ideas, mutual visits, joint studies, workshops, seminars, and the sharing of books, periodicals, and scientific and cultural resources, in addition to the implementation of joint projects aligned with their respective missions.
The books represent a cultural and intellectual treasure that will enrich the library’s collections and significantly enhance Emirati content across a variety of topics. They offer valuable material for researchers and scholars, particularly those with a deep interest in the heritage, literature, and cultural components of the UAE.
On the occasion, H.E. Abdul Hamid Ahmad, Secretary General of the Sultan Bin Ali Al Owais Cultural Foundation, said: “The Mohammed Bin Rashid Library stands as one of the most important cultural edifices in the Arab world, offering knowledge and culture to all segments of society. In a short time since its establishment, it has emerged as a leading cultural destination in Dubai. In recognition of its growing cultural influence, the Sultan Bin Ali Al Owais Cultural Foundation has chosen to provide this curated collection of works by creative Emirati authors to the library, facilitating wider access for readers and further strengthening the library’s role in promoting cultural enrichment and intellectual engagement.”
The Secretary-General added that the Al Owais Foundation organised a major event to mark Emirati Writer’s Day, featuring the signing of more than one hundred Emirati books. The celebration drew hundreds of writers, creatives, journalists, and literature enthusiasts, all gathered in a vibrant and festive atmosphere. The event was further enriched by the dedication of 300 Emirati books to the Mohammed Bin Rashid Library, reinforcing the Foundation’s commitment to spreading knowledge and facilitating access for readers and those interested in Emirati literature and culture.
