Al Owais Cultural Foundation To Participate In Abu Dhabi International Book Fair With Rich Line-up of Activities

The Sultan Bin Ali Al Owais Cultural Foundation is set to participate in the Abu Dhabi International Book Fair (ADIBF 2025), taking place from April 26 to May 5, 2025. At its Stand, the Foundation will showcase hundreds of titles from its diverse catalogue, including publications from its acclaimed “Pioneers from the UAE” series, which chronicles the lives and contributions of creative Emiratis.

Also featured will be the “Winners” series, which highlights the achievements of recipients of the prestigious Sultan Bin Ali Al Owais Cultural Award and is dedicated to publishing an influential book of each winner. The Foundation will further present a selection of books derived from its past lectures and seminars, along with an array of scattered works that reflect the rich identity and intellectual legacy of its leading cultural identity.

To commemorate the centenary of the renowned poet Sultan bin Ali Al Owais, the Al Owais Cultural Foundation, in collaboration with the Abu Dhabi Arabic Language Centre, will host a central symposium titled “100 Years Since the Birth of Sultan Al Owais: A Cultural Beacon in the Arab World”.

The event will feature distinguished participants, including H.E. Mohammed Al Murr, H.E. Mohammed Reda Nasrallah, Naji Beydoun, and Haneen Omar. The discussion will be moderated by H.E. Abdul Hamid Ahmed, Secretary-General of the Al Owais Cultural Foundation. The symposium will take place on Tuesday, April 29, at 6:00 PM at the IDIBF’s main stage.

On the sidelines of its participation in ADIBF 2025, the Sultan Bin Ali Al Owais Cultural Foundation will host a series of cultural events and book signings at its Stand.

On Sunday, April 27, at 7:30 PM, Dr. Samar Ruhi will sign copies of his new book, “Poetic Brillance: A Critical Reading in the Poetry of Sultan Bin Ali Al Owais”.

On Wednesday, April 30, at 7:30 PM, the Foundation will hold a launch ceremony for book “The Mother of UAE Media: Hessa Al Ossaily“, authored by Dr. Aysha Al Busmait.

On Thursday, May 1, also at 7:30 PM, a launch and signing ceremony will take place for the book “Saif bin Rahma Al Shamsi” by Dr. Sheikha Al Shamsi.

As part of its ongoing cultural collaborations, the Sultan Bin Ali Al Owais Cultural Foundation is joining forces with the Abu Dhabi Music and Arts Foundation (ADMAF) to present a special panel discussion titled “Sultan Al Owais: Trailblazing Poetry and the Allure of the Sea”.

The event will be held on Saturday, May 3, at 6:00 PM at the Poetry Nights Majlis, and will feature contributions from Mr. Ibrahim Al Hashemi, Dr. Youssef Eid and Mohammed Noureddine.

The panel discussion will be followed by the launch of the book “Disobedience to Absence”, a collection of testimonies and critical readings that explore the poetic legacy of Sultan Al Owais.

On the fringe of the book fair, the Sultan Bin Ali Al Owais Cultural Foundation will also sign a Memorandum of Understanding with the Abu Dhabi Music & Arts Foundation on Friday, May 2 at 6:00 PM. The agreement aims to foster collaboration in organising cultural, artistic and intellectual events aligned with the shared goals and vision of both institutions.
