Hamid Said

  • Hamid Said Hadi Al Amine
  • Graduate of the College of Arts, Mustansiriyah University, Baghdad, 1968.
  • He worked in education and journalism, holding several administrative positions in culture and media. He served as editor-in-chief of daily and weekly newspapers, as well as literary and intellectual magazines, including Al Aqlam, Al Katib Al Arabi, and Al Hikma. He also worked as a cultural advisor for Iraq in Madrid and Rabat. His last official position before leaving his country after the occupation to reside in Amman was Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the House of Wisdom (Bayt Al-Hikmah).
  • Co-founder and editorial secretary of Al Kalima magazine, one of the most important literary magazines in Iraq during the second half of the 20th century.
  • Founding member of the General Union of Writers in Iraq, serving as Cultural Secretary when Al Jawahiri was its President. He also served as Union President in multiple electoral terms and was elected Secretary-General of the General Union of Arab Writers for two terms from 1986–1990.
  • In 1986, he was invited to the Secretariat of the Nobel Prize in in Stockholm, where he conducted important discussions on Western literature.
  • He participated and continues to participate in Arabic and international poetry festivals. His poems have been translated into several major languages, and he has published poetry collections in English, French, Spanish, Serbian, Croatian, Romanian, and Turkish.
  • His poetic work has been the subject of academic studies at the University of Granada (Spain), the University of Fez (Morocco), and Mustansiriyah University (Iraq).
  • Some of his selected poetry collections were published by Dar Nuqush Arabi, Tunisia (2001), and the Palestinian House of Poetry, Ramallah (2008).
  • His poetic experience has been studied by leading critics, scholars, and renowned poets, resulting in several printed books, including works by thinkers and critics such as Aziz Al Sayyid Jassim, Dr. Hassan Al Gharfi, Yusuf Said, researcher Hamid AlMutaba’i, critic Mu’in Jaafar Mohammad, poet Hadi Daniel, and others.
