Emirati Women: Icons of Pride and Giving at the Heart of UAE Community

“Emirati Women’s Day” is an annual occasion to express pride in the outstanding achievements of Emirati women and their pivotal role and distinguished contribution to the country’s renaissance and sustainable development.

On the occasion of “Emirati Women’s Day”, the Sultan bin Ali Al Owais Cultural Foundation expresses pride in the great achievements of Emirati women in various fields. The General Women’s Union (GWU) was established on August 28 and hence the UAE celebrates its daughters on this memorable day, which reflects the great faith the UAE leadership has in the important role played by Emirati women in the community and the great efforts they make for the sake of their country’s wellbeing and development. This occasion aims to recognize and celebrate their contribution and achievements in supporting the UAE’s journey both locally and abroad.

The theme of this year’s Emirati Women’s Day, “We Collaborate for Tomorrow”, launched by H.H. Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak (The Mother of the Nation- May Allah Protect her), Chairwoman of the General Women’s Union (GWU), President of the Supreme Council for Motherhood and Childhood, and Supreme Chairwoman of the Family Development Foundation (FDF), is in line with UAE’s 2023 theme “Today for Tomorrow” launched by President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, and aims to highlight the UAE’s domestic efforts and its global contribution to addressing sustainability challenges by finding innovative solutions in the fields of energy and climate change. Moreover, it aims to underline the collaborative efforts of all members of the community to realize the vision of the UAE.

“Today for Tomorrow” means that sustainability is a collaborative process that requires the cooperation of all members of the community and indeed Emirati women are strategic partners in this process through the various roles they play in achieving progress, whether in the home or the workplace and their active participation in community initiatives.

It is worth mentioning that the Sultan Bin Ali Al Owais Cultural Foundation had the honor of granting H.H.
