The award aims to honour pioneering achievements and significant contributions to science, literature, arts and studies of notable figures, while promoting excellence, creativity, innovation and scientific research.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">It also seeks to preserve cultural and scientific heritage by highlighting influential Arab and non-Arab figures throughout history, encouraging scholarly research into their lives and achievements, and strengthening cultural dialogue between civilisations. The award will support promising talent, promote intellectual and artistic creativity, and reinforce the importance of knowledge as a foundation for human progress.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\"><strong>Four main categories<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">Under the decree, the award will be presented in four fields: sciences, literature, arts and studies of notable figures. The sciences category will recognise pioneering contributions to theoretical and applied sciences, including original research, discoveries and innovative applications that advance knowledge and benefit society.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">The literature category will honour literary creativity, criticism, scholarly editing, linguistic and stylistic studies, and other contributions enriching Arabic and international literature.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">The arts category will recognise achievements in visual, auditory and performing arts, particularly works combining innovation, aesthetic value and humanitarian messages.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">The fourth category will focus on scholarly research into prominent Arab and non-Arab figures, including biographies, historical documentation and studies examining their contributions to human civilisation.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\"><strong>Board chaired by Sharjah Ruler<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">The decree stipulates that the award will be overseen by a Board of Trustees chaired by Sheikh Sultan, who may delegate some or all of his powers to other members. Board members will be appointed by the Chairman for renewable four-year terms. The board will continue exercising its responsibilities until a new board is formed.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">The board will establish the award&#8217;s general policies, approve strategic plans, determine eligibility requirements and evaluation criteria, and oversee the selection of winners. It will also approve judging panels, technical committees, competition schedules, financial prizes and other benefits granted to recipients.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">The board will meet whenever necessary, with decisions adopted by majority vote. Experts and specialists may be invited to participate without voting rights. A Secretary-General, appointed by the Chairman, will manage the award&#8217;s executive affairs under the board&#8217;s supervision.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">The decree also includes provisions governing impartiality, conflicts of interest, financial resources and regulatory procedures.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\"><strong>Celebrating a historic legacy<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">The award is named after Harun Al Rashid, the fifth Abbasid caliph, who ruled from 786 to 809 AD.
