Filmmakers, take note: the Red Sea International Film Festival is open for submissions

Filmmakers from around the world can now submit their films to the festival, which will take place in March

Saudi Arabia’s first edition of the Red Sea International Film Festival is now accepting film submissions. The independent film festival will take place in Jeddah from Thursday, March 12 to Saturday, March 21, 2020.

Films running in competition at the cinematic event must be an Arab region premiere and must have been produced in the past 12 months.

Nine Yusr Awards will be bestowed by an international jury for feature and short films running In Competition, including the Golden Yusr for Feature Film ($100,000 or Dh367,250), Yusr for Best Director ($50,000), Yusr for Best Screenplay, Yusr for Best Actor, Yusr for Best Actress, Yusr for Best Cinematic Contribution, Yusr for Short Film ($50,000), Best Saudi Film and an audience award ($50,000).

While the festival is open to international, Arab and Saudi directors, short films running in the Red Sea Short Competition are by Saudi and Arab filmmakers only.

The Red Sea International Film Festival is run by the Red Sea Film Foundation, an non-profit organisation dedicated to promoting Saudi and Arab film culture.

Submissions will close on Friday, November 15 and film selections will be made by January 2020.
