The Standing Regulations of

The Sultan Bin Ali Al Owais Award for Scientific and Cultural Achievement

Article 1

The following words and phrases shall have the following meanings.

The Board

The Board of Trustees of the Sultan Bin Ali Al Owais Cultural Foundation

The General Secretariat

The General Secretariat of the Sultan Bin Ali Al Owais Cultural Foundation

The Standing Regulations

The Standing Regulations of the Sultan Bin Ali Al Owais Cultural Foundation

The Award

The Sultan Bin Ali Al Owais Award for Scientific and Cultural Achievement

Article 2

The Award is presented every two years to:

A.

Individual Arab litterateurs, intellectuals, writers, artists, scientists who have served Arabic culture and have a significant impact on the development of literature, criticism, intellectualism, philosophy, humanities, economics, applied and theoretical sciences, medicine, and arts.

B.

Arab cultural and scientific organisations such as universities, institutes, colleges and research centres which have significantly contributed to the development of literature, arts and sciences in the Arab Homeland.

Article 3

The prize money is US $ 100,000

Winners of the Award cannot nominate the other categories of the Sultan Bin Ali Al Owais Cultural Award; The Award is given once only to the winners.

Article 4

 

Nominations to the Award can be made through cultural and scientific organisations as well as the Board of Trustees.

Nominations shall include CVs of the candidates with lists of their achievements books, researches, inventions, patents, artistic works, certificates of recognition, etc. Written approvals of nomination by candidates should also be included.

The General Secretariat may ask samples or copies of these achievements.

Article 5

The General Secretariat shall announce nomination opening and closing dates for all the fields of the Award mentioned in Article 2 herein. The General Secretariat may single out a certain field for nomination.

Articles 6

The General Secretariat shall review the nominations and report the best candidates to the Board.

The Board shall select the winner from the best candidates within six months from the nomination closing date. The General Secretariat shall announce the winner and the selection basis.

 

The General Secretariat may solicit assistance from whomever it deems appropriate to evaluate nominations through temporary advising or technical commission, ballot, universities, cultural or scientific centres, or any other means it deems appropriate.

The selected="true"="true" winner shall be from amongst the nominated candidates.

 The Board may select more than one winner.

 

Article 7

It is deemed void and null any term herein that does not adhere to the Articles of Associations. The Board of Trustees may amend any regulation herein.*
